Our Supreme Grandmasters Supreme Series Chess Pieces are an excellent reproduction of the famous chess set used in 1961-74 USSR World Championships. (Reference Set courtesy www.chess-collection.de)
The 1961 World Chess Championship match was played between Mikhail Botvinnik and Magician from Riga, Mikhail Tal. Although Tal was a strong favourite to win the match, Botvinnik won convincingly by a 13-8 margin.
